Broomwood Primary School
Broomwood Primary School was opened in 1954.  There have been four Head Teachers:
  • Mr. Finch 1954 - 1976
  • Mrs. Davies 1976 - 1986
  • Mr. Bennett 1986 - 1998
  • Mrs. Wood 1998 -

The original school was a mixture of double and single storey design. At a later date a second hall was added and spacious Nursery accommodation.

The school occupies a large area with extensive grounds which offers the opportunity for 2 hard standing play areas and large playing fields.

In addition to the Nursery there are eight classrooms, an I.C.T suite with 15 networked computers and interactive whiteboard, and a spacious community room which serves many purposes.

There is also a computerised library which is well stocked and children have the opportunity to borrow books for home reading and reference.

The sale of part of the playing field has enabled the school to have a new entrance and reorganise the administration/reception area, re-furniture throughout the school and have redecoration of classrooms and exterior paintwork.

More recent major refurbishment has included new toilets for all children and currently the school is having a whole new roof fitted and a new Children’s Centre offering a variety of services is currently being built next to the school building. We have also recently completed the building of a new soft area Nursery Playground and wheelchair access is available to the school via a new ramp leading to the Nursery classroom.

The school kitchen will soon undergo a major refurbishment and it produces healthy meals, which are good value for money. The children have a wide choice of freshly prepared hot or cold meals and are encouraged to be independent and take responsibility for the collection and clearing away of dishes afterwards.

There is a broad and balanced curriculum which recognises the important part that extra curricular activities play in the balanced development of the whole child.

All the staff at Broomwood, both teaching and non-teaching, form a hard working team whose aim is to provide a stimulating and happy learning environment in which children are seen as individuals and given the opportunity to develop their full potential in all aspects of school life.
