Hello and welcome to Broomwood Primary School
I was appointed as headteacher of Broomwood Primary School
ten years ago in 1998. It is a good time, therefore, to
reflect upon the decade and highlight significant changes
made during this period.
The school itself has been updated and refurbished with new
entrance hall, reception area, staffroom, school library and
Headteacher’s Office. After fifty four years the school
kitchen has just been replaced and we are pleased to open
our new kitchen this term. The meals are healthy, nutritious
and excellent value for money. The windows to many rooms
have been replaced and our reception classroom now has a
door to enable the children to have direct access to their
play area. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard
installed as a permanent teaching tool.
The school grounds have been transformed. There are three
distinct play areas for foundation Stage, Key Stage One and
Key Stage Two children. Each area has been carefully planned
to maximise social and emotional learning opportunities. A
Children’s Centre was added to the school in September 2007
and this has dramatically improved opportunities for pre
school children and parents to have easy access to a wide
range of support in preparation for start to school life.
Our recent Ofsted inspection confirmed the fact that
teaching and care at the school is “Outstanding”. This has
been achieved by the recruitment of excellent teachers and a
rigorous and consistent approach to school improvement. The
Curriculum has been sculpted to suit our children’s needs
and it is constantly reviewed and revised. Changes are
brought in with meticulous attention to detail, timing and
after consultation.
Whilst I could talk at length about our Extended School
provision i.e. the Breakfast Club, Broomwood Bear’s
Afterschool and Holiday Club and the close links we have
with our community I will leave you, the reader, chance to
browse the other pages of our site for further information
about what have become well established facilities.
Our most treasured change is the increasing interest our
parents are showing in their child’s education and in the
school itself. With this we can conquer the world.
I love to show interested people around the school and so
please contact me for an appointment to view.
